** Fall and Winter bring some changes to pond maintenance. Fall and winter maintenance is now more important than ever. It is crucial that you are monitoring your water quality because medicated koi food has been taken off the market. Medicated koi food was one of the best ways to cure disease in koi. Maintaining good water quality greatly improves chances for fish to avoid disease in the first place.
It is time to switch over to Fall/Winter Microbe lift. This beneficial bacteria is more tolerant of low temperatures and will continue to work in the cool months. The bacteria helps break down organic matter and maintain the nitrogen cycle both of which if not maintained can contribute to fish disease. It is also time to switch to our Ichiban food. This food is easier to digest in the cooler months which reduces stress.
Another good idea is to add a pH buffer to prevent pH swings which can also contribute to disease.
It is easy to ignore our ponds during the winter, but this can lead to problems as things begin to warm up.
Stop in the store and pick up your supplies and we can talk to you further!

The word spreads fast in the animal kingdom. Put in a pond, and you’ll agree. Within days, a whole array of creatures find their way into, next to, and around your pond. As you settle into your new pond so do countless insects, amphibians, birds, and reptiles. The reason your pond attracts so many creatures is because a steady supply of clean water can be hard to find. While some creatures spend part of their life cycle in the water, some are just looking for a dr...
